Description:
Much wisdom from holy books about yoga, the path to self-realization, is already available to us. A next step is a description of the stage of being grounded in the innermost self, the state of complete consciousness, knowledge and bliss, that yoga aims for. This book by Swami Yogeshvarananda Sarasvati is about the journey to this innermost self. He himself walked the royal path of yoga for decades, in order to finally become partaker of an inner vision of the individual and collective soul. Before penetrating to the soul, extensive descriptions are devoted to the three 'sheaths': the physical, the astral and the causal body. Various parts, functions and relationships of these bodies are placed in a very special light. Among other things, the senses, the nervous system, the intellect, the ego principle, chakras, processes of perception and action, relationships with cosmic elements are highlighted. In addition, atma vyana is discussed, a practical explanation of an ancient method for visualizing the soul. The secrets of this sacred science are unveiled by revelation of all the subtle elements of the soul, their characteristics, mutual differences, locations and subtle functions. Finally, a description of the supreme forms of detachment and liberation shows how the true bliss and peace, which is hidden in the heart of every human being, can be attained through knowledge of the soul.
