Description:
The limerick originated at Irish weddings and parties. Each guest would add a verse in song, ending with the collective line: 'Will you come up to Limerick?'
Over time, this five-line verse, which usually contains a place name in the first line and is often sexually suggestive, has become the enfant terrible of poetry.
The poems in VAN HOT NAAR HAAR are not flat rhymes. Gaugaud uses stylistic forms such as internal rhyme and alliteration in a baroque manner, and she surprises the reader with unexpected rhymes and playful associations between place name, character, profession and action.
FROM HOT TO HAIR is bold and spicy in three categories: mild, medium and hot. But a classification according to that increasing degree of spiciness always remains a bit of 'guesswork' according to the author.
