Description:
England, 1820. When Lord Loveall finds a stray dog dragging a bundle in the waste heaps outside London, he discovers that the animal is carrying a newborn baby—a gift from heaven for him, as the Loveall family is in danger of dying out. Loveall names the child Rose and takes her home to raise as his own daughter.
But then Rose reaches her teenage years and her expensive dresses can no longer hide the fact that she is actually a boy. Rose flees and heads out into the wide world. Only after he has come to terms with himself does he find the key to the mystery of his own origins and uncover a terrible family secret.
Encrypted Past is best described as a gothic soap opera that is as addictive as it is compelling. Rose (boy and girl in one) is the irresistible center of the story, and moves with his unwavering passion for life.
WESLEY STACE (Hastings, 1965) studied at Cambridge University and currently lives and works in New York. He is known as John Wesley Harding as a singer-songwriter. Encrypted Past is his debut novel.
