Description:
Inez van Dullemen has the strength and imagination to examine her long life and sixty years of writing. In these memoirs she does so with that indelible poetic tone that is so typical of her. She alternates pages from her diary with melancholic memories of her parents. Her marriage to theatre maker Erik Vos takes her to many places, where she watches rehearsals and performances as an astute observer. Her travel reports about Alaska, Mexico, Japan, Suriname are also deeply felt and lived through. She never judges, she always looks with wonder and involvement. And she speaks out about her second life, the life of a writer: 'In that diffuse private domain I lived more intensely than in my everyday existence.'
