Description:
The beginning of the thirteenth century is a tumultuous period for southern France. Fierce wars threaten the cultural blossoming and will eventually destroy the troubadour art.
In this historical novel, author Clara Pierre paints a fascinating portrait of the - historical - troubadour Gaucelm Faudit, who led an adventurous life, full of love, intrigues, glory, lust and music.

The young Gaucelm goes to Toulouse to seek his fortune as a singer at the court of Count Raymond, the liberal cultural centre of the Languedoc. After an overly critical song, the successful Gaucelm has to find another patron. With his beloved Guilhelma he travels around the south of France.

American medievalist Clara Pierre immersed herself in the world of the troubadours. For this debut novel, she followed in the footsteps of Gaucelm Faidit, using medieval maps and manuscripts as her guide.
