Description:
In 'Well-considered and unnoticed', Piet Gerbrandy's first collection of poems, various speakers are given the floor, divided over three sections, who make questionable statements about themselves and the world with a compassionate distance. They know that only those who no longer have any illusions can afford to be cheerful. An obsession with Eros and Thanatos cannot be denied in these poems, although it never becomes exuberant. The poet keeps his words too tightly constricted for that in a compact, melodious form, which perhaps betrays his Latin affinity. In the first section, restrained madness sometimes breaks loose, but usually it just about works out; disgust thrives there. The second section is dominated by compassion for observed facts. There even seems to be such a thing as beauty, but then an extremely transient one. And memory has a tendency to throw a spanner in the works. In the third section, brave perseverance, desire - against one's better judgment - predominate.
