Description:
Venice at the beginning of the third millennium. Acqua alta, the tidal waves that increasingly flood the quays, is not the only threat to the lagoon city. Tourism has turned the fairytale city into an amusement park. The original inhabitants are moving away and the gondoliers regularly go on strike. Journalist Daniël Schaaf comes to report on such a gondolier strike and meets a tour guide. A love seems to blossom. Art historian Arthur Citroen, who is researching painters' models in the Renaissance, has a completely different connection with Venice. He gets into trouble when videos he makes of one of his students appear on the internet. Citroen is in danger of becoming the victim of a trial by media, from which Schaaf thinks he can save him. Via Cappello 23 is a modern drama about theatre, media, privacy, painting, science and eroticism, against the background of an ever-changing world and rising sea levels.
