Description:
There you are with your diploma in your pocket. Growing up in golden times, with the promise that the world is at your feet: 'You have every opportunity, so seize it!' The time has come to make the most of it. But then the doubts arise. Is someone waiting for me? Where is that dream job that was promised to me? How do I stand out from all the others? Today's twenty-somethings are under pressure. You are what you do and you have to do what you like, but is that possible? And what do we 'really' like? The fear of mediocrity is great, especially now that social media makes it possible to keep an eye on everyone's successes. The pressure to perform in all kinds of areas has become immense for many twenty-somethings. It is easy to become stressed or sink into lethargy. Are twenty-somethings exaggerating and do they need a kick in the butt? The world at your feet offers clarification and recognition for today's generation of twenty-somethings. Birte Schohaus (1983) is doing her PhD on the relationship between politicians and journalists on television at the University of Groningen. She also works as a freelance journalist for De Groene Amsterdammer, among others. Marijke de Vries (1987) is a reporter for the daily newspaper Trouw. She previously worked at the Higher Education Press Agency and wrote for De Groene Amsterdammer, among others.
