Description:
Seven founders of psychology
We learn from history and from our predecessors. At least, that is what is claimed. Yet psychology, pedagogy and educational science seem to be becoming increasingly ahistorical. Sources older than those from five years ago are rarely cited in empirical articles - with the result that psychologists, pedagogues and educationalists regularly reinvent the wheel. Nevertheless, many of them claim to stand on the shoulders of intellectual giants. But who are these giants?
This book is the last part of a five-part series on pioneers of academic psychology, pedagogy and educational science (in short, the behavioral sciences) in the Netherlands - an initiative of the Archive and Documentation Center for Dutch Behavioral Sciences (ADNG). The series aims to offer information about these founders in an accessible way to contemporary practitioners of these sciences and to a broader historical-scientifically interested public.
This volume contains biographical sketches of Theo Rutten (Radboud University), Alfons Chorus (Leiden University), Jan Snijders (University of Groningen), Hubertus Duijker (University of Amsterdam), Rita Vuyk (University of Amsterdam), Johan Barendregt (University of Amsterdam) and John van de Geer (Leiden University).
The series Pioneers of the Dutch Behavioural Sciences is edited by Dr. Vittorio Busato, Prof. Emeritus Dr. Mineke van Essen and Prof. Dr. Willem Koops, together the board of the ADNG.
