Description:
In a bed and breakfast in Woodstock, NY, Nola Goodyear finds a guestbook. It contains letters from a father to his six-year-old son, who fell into a pond at the Woodstock Festival in 1969. Half a million bystanders and no one saw it happen.
Nola is staying in Woodstock with her husband David Winger, a successful playwright. He has set himself two goals. He wants to write a play about the legendary music festival. Not yet another glorification of flower power, but the truth: about the hedonism, the drug madness, the stealing of each other's drinking water and sandwiches. He also wants to finally have a baby. Problem one: he can't find an angle for his play. Problem two: his wife just can't get pregnant. And patience is not his strong suit.
Nola has her own worries. Should she tell him about the golden story in the guestbook? And how honest should she be about her doubts about motherhood? As a restorer, she can restore the woodwork of furniture to its former glory with endless patience, but in her relationship, she lacks the overview. She misses her workshop.
Woodstock houses a double story about suspicion and deceit out of love. About the desire for a child and the fear of losing it. About the dark sides of high ideals and boundless ambitions.
