Description:
Christian communities have existed for almost two thousand years. Their number, size, internal organization and mutual relations have changed over the centuries. For centuries, new communities have emerged and existing ones have disappeared, a process that continues worldwide with remarkable continuity. In this process, the Christian communities of the first and second centuries occupy a special place: historically, these were the seeds from which the Christian church developed and spread throughout the world. They are therefore a phenomenon of eminent importance for church history, social history and knowledge of the ancient world.
