Description:
It is no wonder that Devlin Stead grows up in Newfoundland as a lonely, introverted child. When he is five, his father goes on an expedition to Greenland and never returns. His mother dies under mysterious circumstances. Later, Devlin discovers that Dr. Frederick Cook, who traveled to Greenland with the same expedition, is his real father. Devlin leaves for the explosively growing New York to meet Cook. He invites Devlin to help him in his attempt to beat his rival Robert Peary in the greatest prize of all, the race to the North Pole. On this journey, Devlin gradually gets the answers to the questions that have dominated his life.
