Description:
When Gregor, an attractive PhD student from Amsterdam, is approached by his old college friend Tessa and her twin sister Madelon, it turns out that this duo has a strange proposition for him. They ask him if he wants to earn some extra money as a companion. Gregor is intelligent, self-assured and charming; exactly the qualities that today's highly educated woman needs.
Earning money by conversing with beautiful and smart women, flirting and sometimes more: Gregor is flattered and fascinated and decides to accept the offer. However, the double life soon gets him into trouble, and old, never-healed wounds from his youth threaten to completely destroy his seemingly comfortable existence.
Conditional Love, Thierry Baudet's first literary work, plunges the reader into a paradoxical quest for sincerity and innocence, and examines the sacrifice of love in a time of egoism. Rarely has our country seen a debut novel in which modern morality is so mercilessly put to the test; in which love and hate, good and evil, are linked together in such a shocking way.
Thierry Baudet (1983), politician, academic, journalist and writer, studied law and history at the University of Amsterdam. He received his PhD from the Leiden Law School and is the author of nine books, including The Attack on the Nation State, Oikophobia and Break the Party Cartel!. Together with Geert Mak he published the collection Thuis in de Tijd in early 2014. Baudet has been a member of the House of Representatives for his party Forum voor Democratie since 2017.
