Description:
Jan Boerstoel wrote song lyrics as early as high school and it has been his profession for half a century. His many 'customers' include Cabaret Don Quishocking, Martine Bijl, Youp van 't Hek, Jenny Arean and Karin Bloemen. At that time, Boerstoel also wrote dozens of texts for TV programs. Probably every Dutch person can sing along to a text by Jan Boerstoel. He is one of the most successful writers of song lyrics in our language area and is an absolute phenomenon in that respect. In Tussentijd, Boerstoel takes a look at his extensive oeuvre. The book thus forms a beautiful cross-section of fifty years of song writing, not only for old fans, but especially for his newest fans.
Jan Boerstoel (1944) won the Annie MG Schmidt Prize for No Longer a Child and Someone Has to Do It.
'Boerstoel has the gift of pouring his melancholy into refined humor; a unique combination in Dutch poetry.' – Özcan Akyol
