Description:
JJ and John are two white teenage boys with parents who understand everything. Their only rebellion consists of obsessively smoking skunk, playing Grand Theft Auto and listening to gangsta rap. Looking for resistance, kicks and adventure, JJ and John seek out the boys who hang around in the squares of their city, who are called 'street terrorists' on television and who everyone is afraid of. They dream of a rap career after proving themselves, just like their American examples, as hardened street rebels - but they lose their grip on their own myth-making.
When JJ and John grow apart after a conflict on the street, their lives become the center of a hall of mirrors of stories, with a journalist, a politician, a show lawyer and a sex addict respectively.
record label executives want to revive their dormant careers.
White Panthers is a fast-paced novel full of street noise, about friendship, rap music and dreams of a
living big - and about identity formation, crime as entertainment and multicultural polarization.
