Description:
Bert Wagendorp's Ventoux is a moving tragicomedy that extends from the Achterhoek in the sixties and seventies to the Randstad and Provence in 2012.
Bart Hoffman is a crime journalist, cyclist and almost fifty. The future worries him when he is overtaken by the past: his friends David, Joost and André return to his life. And with them the summer of 1982; the summer of hopeless love for the beautiful Laura, the summer of betrayal and the summer of death by negligence on the Mont Ventoux. In the summer of 2010 the friends return, with the racing bikes on the roof, their troubles on the tow bar and the lost time on the back seat.
Ventoux is a story about the old friendship between five men and a woman. A moving, hilarious and sharp portrait of a generation. And a search for the consequences of choices.
In June, Ventoux was named Book of the Month by De Wereld Draait Door.
Director Nicole van Kilsdonk is already developing a feature film based on the book.
