Description:
Eastern Turkey, 1960s. Thirteen-year-old Mehmet grows up in a village that was once founded by the Armenians. His gentle father, who lost almost his entire family in the First World War, is a beloved storyteller, his mother a powerful woman who is feared by everyone because of her sharp tongue. Together with Mehmet's brother and sister, they form a close-knit family. But that changes abruptly when his father has an accident with tragic consequences.
Loosely inspired by Murat Isik's own family history, Lost Ground is an epic novel about a family torn apart partly by fate, partly by their own doing. A poignant father-son story about friendship, loss and hope.
