Jack Guevara is a sailor on a ship that transports Indians from Tierra del Fuego to
England, where they are forcibly 'converted' to British culture. On board he befriends the Indian Jemmy Button. When the Indians return to Tierra del Fuego after two years to help establish British culture, they quickly adopt the native traditions again. Thirty years later, Jack Guevara has to testify in a trial against Jemmy Button. He is on trial as the leader of a group of native Tierra del Fuegos who murdered the crew of an English ship.
Jack's testimony grows into a historical document about the clash between Indian and English cultures.
`Terra del Fuego is a wonderful combination of poetry and documentary, fiction and reality.' - Der Spiegel
