Description:
Stephan Sanders usually does not start his travels as a traveller, but as a tourist with the idea of sun and sea. He does not so much go somewhere, but leaves something behind - a more or less organised life. Suddenly he is a blank slate, the woman next to him on the plane does not know him, and why could he not be a plumber, or a night porter? He looks forward to hotels and resorts that promise calm, luxury and volupté. You put a finger outside the door and the outdoor life immediately takes your whole hand. Like in Gambia, where Sanders meets a certain Omar from Sierra Leone, a few years younger than him, and much more of a soldier. 'How many men have you killed in your life, more or less?' The sincere question of someone who sees him as a fellow man. And how much does he ask for a night with that fat German woman who judges them when they do their push-ups on the beach? Behind the hotel walls the misunderstanding begins, and eventually the war.
