Description:
The masterpieces of Flemish painting from the 15th century - from The Mystic Lamb to The Last Judgement - have had a great influence on European painting. All these works, which sprang from a collective consciousness, possess a finesse and grandeur that - even more than the religious message - touches everyone. This painting went through a long development, from Melchior Broederlam to Quentin Metsys, which was determined in particular by the personal contributions of each artistic personality: the eye for detail of Jan van Eyk; the expressiveness of Rogier van der Weyden; the mastery of linear perspective of Petrus Christus; the great variety of religious scenes of Dierick Bouts or Hugo van der Goes; the incessant search for the truth of Justus van Get and the fascinating world of the great Hieronymus Bosch.
