Description:
It is 1943. Shortly after the mother leaves the family, a new woman comes to live in the Verschuur household: aunt Ank. When she marries the father of eight-year-old Rita, she becomes 'the second mother'. She has three children with him. Mother is a headstrong Protestant woman who rules the non-church family strictly but lovingly. As a passionate art historian, she surrounds herself with reproductions from the Italian Renaissance. One of them, the pink angel, is for Rita.
