This book accompanies the exhibition Van Gogh by Night at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (21 September 2008 - 4 January 2009), and Van Gogh and the Colours of the Night at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam (13 February - 7 June 2009).

Collected under the heading 'night', this catalogue shows a number of works and details of works by Vincent van Gogh. The catalogue is published to accompany the exhibition 'Van Gogh and the colours of the night' that can be seen in the spring of 2009 in the Van Gogh Museum (and later in the year in the MoMA). The catalogue contains five text contributions by, among others, the head of Collections of the Van Gogh Museum, the deputy curator of the MoMA and the head of Research of the Van Gogh Museum. The quality of the prints in this catalogue is very good with beautiful detailed photos and a beautiful design. Although numerous publications about Van Gogh have already been published, this is still a nice addition. The publication is a nice middle way between very specialized publications with a lot of text and picture books without explanation. A very pleasant picture book due to the beautiful and good reproductions and equally pleasant to read, so both viewer and reader are satisfied. With notes and index.
