Denise Jannah in the Foreword:
I was touched by a wide range of emotions such as desire, questions, yearning, cherishing, doubt, protection, searching, security and despair... Consciously or unconsciously we are all looking for the Power within us, to keep ourselves standing, to straighten our backs. In doing so, we will often wear a mask, pretend, or put up another facade behind which we think we feel safer. There is so much that we would like to let flow out, but often out of uncertainty, fear, blockages or whatever else we keep hidden behind 'safe' doors in our minds, even despite the threat of emotional suffocation. Out of pure self-preservation. So much that we indeed do not talk about... Tribute to these writers who gave us these beautiful and intense stories!

At the invitation of Vereniging Ons Suriname, 20 Surinamese and Antillean writers, both well-known and debuting, submitted a new story for this bundle in which an enormous diversity is brought together in age, from 30 to 60 years, living in and outside the country of origin, and in origin: from Negro-Jewish and Islamic-Hindustani to Indian-Antillean. The women take the floor and they always do so openly, also with humor and using numerous stylistic devices, in a Dutch warrin mother languages such as Sarnami, Sranantongo and Papiamento sometimes surprisingly and refreshingly resonate.
