Description:
In the mountains above Aosta, towards dusk, a snowcat rides over a bump. The snow slowly turns red; underneath lies a corpse.
Commissioner Schiavone is leading the investigation. He hates snow. He has been banished from Rome to this ski resort because of a misstep. He is extremely rude and has loose hands. In addition to his salary, he has a very illegal source of income. But he is a brilliant detective.
Who killed Leone Miccichè, married to the beautiful Luisa Pec and owner of a small luxury hotel? In a ruthless but meticulous way, Schiavone solves the case.
'What did they have? A half-frozen body under a few inches of snow. Body was a euphemism. It might have been that once. A mass of flesh, nerves and blood, crushed by the snowcat's cutters. Feathers were strewn about it. Everywhere. The inspector crouched down in his lead coat.'
