Description:
Short review Biblion: After "de dikke Komrij" Chrétien Breukers presents here the first "Contrabas anthology" of poets who made their debut after 1980. Breukers, co-editor-in-chief of the weblog group "De Contrabas" and re-founder of "De Windroosserie", "plundered" collections, magazines and websites for this. After 1980 no defining movements emerge and so the compiler is more concerned with individual poets who, each in their own way, make poetry flourish in our unpoetic times. He is not so keen on pretentious people who propagate their poems with grabs from the fashionable bag of tricks. He prefers to make a "plea of inertia": for poetry on paper you have to sit down. And yes, then one surprise tumbles over the other: often unknown poets make you think or smile. - Els van Geene
