Description:
She picks up a broken branch and walks back and forth, foot by foot. For every step she takes, she pokes the leaves with the branch to feel if there is a hollow underneath; she does not feel like suddenly falling down a bit. With a sprained ankle, she will never get out of here. Although, it is actually a nice thought that she would meet her end in a hole that she dug herself seventy years ago.
On a winter afternoon, an old woman is found lying on the ice of a canal. In the hospital, she tries to remember how she got there, but in her confused mind, the past and the present are mixed up. She goes back to the time when she was a girl, when secrets clouded reality.
Furthermore, There Is No One is a novel about the power of imagination, which gives color and meaning to the life of the main character, but which at the same time disrupts reality.
Ingrid de Vries is a journalist and has worked on various television programs.
There is no one else is her first novel.
