Description:
A collection of portraits and stories about the big and small residents of the Crailo asylum seekers' centre. With approximately 1400 people, originating from 70 countries, Crailo is the largest centre in the Netherlands. It is located in the Gooi, around the corner from me. It used to be an army camp. Angry and astonished about what people do to each other in this world, in order not to stand by and watch how things go wrong without at least trying to do something about it, I started working with the children at Crailo. Unpaid, without the required diplomas, without knowing what to expect. First in the crèche, later in a project in which parents and children learn to play together. And on Wednesday afternoons as a reading mother in the children's library. Could playing together, drawing together, reading together, parents with children, and children with children, be a way to resolve conflicts? And ultimately prevent war? Discovering together that violence should not be the norm?
