Description:
Nick Hunt was only six years old when his mother took him to an island off the coast of North Wales. There, a storm blew up and caught his oversized windbreaker. Luckily, his mother managed to grab him just in time: little Nick nearly flew off. Since then, Nick Hunt has been fascinated by wind. He has travelled on foot through parts of Europe where land and people have been shaped by the wind. The mistral in the south of France, the föhn in the Alps, the bora in Croatia, the marram in northern England, the tramontane in the Pyrenees, the meltemi in Greece; Nick Hunt has crossed the continent from east to west and from north to south, in search of the places where the wind has an indelible influence. Where the Wind Blows is not only a travel book and a cultural history, it is also an idiosyncratic and compelling introduction to the European continent.
