Description:
The successful summer camp in Egmond aan Zee turns into a nightmare when one of the children disappears without a trace...

Just like every year, Laurien van Poelgeest is spending the first week of the summer holidays as a leader at a summer camp for children. Even though she could use a holiday after her first year as a Dutch teacher at a secondary school, she is really looking forward to the camp. Since she went as a child, she has not skipped a year. Her twin sister Tessa is also there, as are a number of good friends with whom she now forms a permanent group of leaders. Laurien has also asked her colleague Pieter to come along, because they were one person short. The fact that she and Pieter have been flirting for a while makes the camp even more fun for her. The camp in the dunes near Egmond aan Zee is, as usual, a great success. The weather is nice, the children are having a good time and so is Laurien, especially when she and Pieter get closer and closer by the campfire in the evening. At that same campfire, they also talk about that one event, twenty-five years ago, when a child disappeared from the camp and drowned in the sea. That event made a big impression on Laurien and she still remembers it, especially now that she is back in that same place. The camp takes a bizarre turn when history seems to repeat itself. In broad daylight, one of the children disappears and the police immediately launch a major search. However, no one has seen or heard anything and the boy is nowhere to be found…
