Description:
Peter Smit used Joyce's title and framework. It consists of 28 chapters in 40 different styles, which take place in one day in Dublin. Smit turned this around to 40 chapters in 28 styles and took a night at the Roman Catholic cemetery of Uitgeest as the location of the action.
Peter Smit (Uitgeest, 1952) made his debut in 1983 with a book that was seized before it was even published.
After this he worked as a copywriter for companies and as an editor/text writer for the TV programs 'Per seconde wijzer' and 'Twee voor twaalf'.
Between 2000 and 2010, Peter Smit wrote more than 50 children's books. With 'The Battle for the Beemster', 'Pirates of the Low Countries' and the series about Captain Kwadraat he became known to a wide audience.
'Ulysses' is his first book since 1990 for an audience that can buy a bottle of wine without supervision.
